At Lake-Sumter State College, the Sports Leadership program is shaping the next generation of leaders in athletics and students like Sydney Pickle show exactly how powerful that impact can be.

A graduate of Apopka High School and a current LSSC beach volleyball student-athlete, Sydney entered the program with a passion for the game. Through her coursework and mentorship from LSSC Athletics staff, that passion evolved into a clear professional path in sports coaching and operations.

Sydney credits the program for opening her eyes to the vital role coaches and operations teams play in student-athlete development. Courses such as Legal and Ethical Considerations in Sports provided valuable behind-the-scenes insight into the structure, responsibility, and ethics that guide the sports industry.

The program’s flexible online format allowed Sydney to balance the demands of collegiate athletics while maintaining academic excellence. This access made it possible for her to grow both on and off the court.

As she explores career opportunities across Central Florida, Sydney is stepping forward with confidence, purpose, and the education needed to lead.
