Live Well Foundation of South Lake County
Our History
The Live Well Foundation of South Lake County was established with the goal of enhancing the quality of life through improved health and wellness. The Foundation’s grant-making aims to inspire sustainable initiatives that boost the health and wellness of the South Lake community.
The Live Well Foundation of South Lake, Inc. was formed through an agreement between Orlando Health and the South Lake Memorial Hospital organization. This agreement led to South Lake Memorial Hospital relinquishing its board seats at South Lake Hospital, while Orlando Health contributed $128 million to the new foundation. This contribution coincided with South Lake Hospital becoming a controlled subsidiary of Orlando Health.
With the October 2019 dissolution of the South Lake County Hospital District, it was necessary to create an ongoing funding source to address healthcare needs in the community. All funds generated by the Foundation will remain in South Lake County.
The Foundation’s impact will ensure continued access to high-quality health and wellness services in the community, both now and in the future. The Foundation’s board is composed of twelve members dedicated to its mission.
After a national search on March 12, 2019, the Live Well Foundation of South Lake appointed Donna Kirtland as Executive Director. Mrs. Kirtland brings over ten years of successful foundation management experience, including roles as Statewide Director of Development at the Florida Bar Foundation and Manager of Donor Stewardship with Valencia College Foundation.
Even at this early stage, the Live Well Foundation of South Lake is committed to being a long-term partner in providing more healthcare choices and promoting healthier lifestyles for the people of South Lake County.
