Building Blocks Ministries Launches “One Block at a Time” to Build Wellness, Skills, and Community Inclusion for Adults with Developmental Disabilities
$62,000 grant from Live Well Foundation of South Lake funds garden, farmers market, and rebranding initiative in South Lake County

Building Blocks Ministries has launched the “One Block at a Time” initiative to expand wellness programming and community engagement for adults with developmental disabilities in South Lake County, supported by a $62,000 grant from the Live Well Foundation of South Lake, the foundation announced in April 2026.
The initiative serves adults ages 22 to 75 living with Down syndrome, autism, intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, and related conditions. Programming centers on a community garden, a farmers market, and organizational rebranding designed to raise public awareness and strengthen the program’s presence in South Lake County.
The project aims to build life skills, promote healthy habits, and increase vocational and social opportunities for participants. Building Blocks Ministries is partnering with the Neighborhood Center of South Lake County and New Beginnings of Central Florida to deliver services across the three program areas.
“This investment reflects our commitment to building a more inclusive community where every individual has the opportunity to grow, contribute, and thrive,” said Susan McLean, grants committee chair for the Live Well Foundation of South Lake. “Programs like One Block at a Time create meaningful pathways to health and independence for people who too often face barriers to both.”
Building Blocks Ministries is a Groveland-based nonprofit providing programming and support services for adults with developmental disabilities in South Lake County.
