South Lake County is growing into a community equipped with the skills to save a life, and the American Heart Association is making it happen.

Through their work in South Lake County, the American Heart Association is bringing Hands Only CPR training directly into the spaces where residents already gather, removing barriers and meeting people where they are.

At the Neighborhood Center of South Lake, food pantry visitors can now learn Hands Only CPR while waiting for services. Staff have already seen community members practicing on the kits and expressing genuine excitement about gaining a skill that could one day save a life. It’s a small shift in routine with an enormous potential impact.

At Building Blocks Ministries, adults with developmental disabilities took part in Hands Only CPR training during their Wellness Expo. Participants demonstrated pride and enthusiasm as they learned how to respond in an emergency, proving that lifesaving skills belong to everyone.

These moments tell a larger story. Lifesaving training is reaching residents who have historically had limited access to CPR and emergency education. Community organizations are weaving safety into their everyday work. And South Lake County is becoming something remarkable: a prepared, confident, and resilient community, one trained neighbor at a time.

Live Well Foundation is proud to support the American Heart Association’s work bringing this vision to life.
