Through a grant from the Greater Clermont Cancer Foundation, a 70-year-old Groveland resident recently found peace of mind during one of the most difficult chapters of her life.

Having faced cancer five times—including ovarian, colon, rectal, and breast cancers- she continues treatment at Moffitt Cancer Center while living on a fixed income and working part-time when able. When she learned about GCCF, she applied for assistance and was awarded a $2,000 patient grant within a week.

Her heartfelt note to the foundation said it all:

“I just checked the mail and received your generous check. I could not believe it. I was expecting about $200 or $300. I will be financially stable for the remainder of my treatment due to the foundation. What peace of mind you have given me. I can’t thank you enough.”

Stories like hers remind us why local support is so important. Many of our neighbors facing cancer live alone or rely on limited income, and it’s the compassion of organizations like the Greater Clermont Cancer Foundation that ensures they don’t walk their journey alone.
