Hope Preparatory Academy is strengthening its ability to provide that care through improvements to the Nathaniel Community Gymnasium, which serves as an emergency shelter for South Lake County residents.

With grant support from the Live Well Foundation of South Lake, the Academy purchased and installed a fully operational gym divider curtain system. The curtains allow the team to create separate spaces for families and individuals, making the shelter more adaptable while improving privacy, safety and organization.

For shelter guests, these improvements can offer personal space during an uncertain and stressful time. For the Academy’s team, they provide greater flexibility to accommodate neighbors with different needs while maintaining a welcoming environment.

The project also includes shower privacy dividers to further improve comfort and dignity for guests using the emergency facilities. At the time of the Academy’s report, materials had been secured and installation was scheduled for completion by the end of August 2026.

Together, these improvements strengthen a critical community resource and Hope Preparatory Academy’s capacity to care for residents during extreme weather.

The Live Well Foundation of South Lake is proud to support the Academy’s commitment to this work. By thoughtfully adapting its facilities, Hope Preparatory Academy is helping ensure that individuals and families have a safe, respectful place to turn when they need shelter most.
